Ryds Bilglas strengthens its operations with the acquisition of AB Mölnlycke Lackerings- och Karosseriverkstad

Ryds Bilglas, Sweden’s leading player in vehicle vehicle glass repair and replacement and part of Cary Group, has signed an agreement to acquire a majority stake in the auto repair workshop AB Mölnlycke Lackerings- och Karosseriverkstad.

This becomes Ryds Bilglas' eleventh acquisition within the collision repair industry in Sweden and marks an important step in the company's ongoing focus on panel and paint repairs. The acquisition is planned to be completed on September 1, following the signing of the agreement in July.
MLK is a well-established player in the industry and has operated in the Gothenburg region since the 1960s. The company offers a wide range of services within maintenance, painting, and bodywork for all types of vehicles. Through partnerships with several insurance companies and a long history of high-quality solutions, MLK has built a strong reputation and position in the region.

“Bringing AB Mölnlycke Lackering Karosseri & Serviceverkstad on board as a partner is a major step forward for our operations. Their extensive experience, high quality, and strong collaboration with insurance companies make this an excellent match for Ryds Bilglas. We are excited to work together with Björn and his team to strengthen our offering and deliver the quality and service that our customers expect, with their expertise”, says Gustav Wingstrand, Car Collision Manager at Cary Group.

MLK currently has 24 employees working in bodywork, painting, maintenance, and administration. Björn Larsson, who has managed the company since 1996, will remain as manager and co-owner to continue leading the operations forward.

"This partnership is an exciting step for us at MLK. Over the years, we have built a strong local presence and established close collaborations with our customers and insurance companies. Becoming a part of Ryds Bilglas now provides additional resources and expertise that will allow us to grow and develop even further as a company. I look forward to leading our fantastic team through this exciting period," says Björn Larsson, manager and owner of AB Mölnlycke Lackering Karosseri & Serviceverkstad.

Cary Group strengthens its market position with the acquisition of Western AG Limited in Northern Ireland

Cary Group has acquired Western AG Limited, which trades as National Windscreens in Northern Ireland. The strategic purchase completes Cary Group’s acquisition of the National Windscreens consortium membership in the UK.

“Cary Group has invested significantly in the UK, having started the consolidation of the National Windscreens members 7 years ago, and with this latest acquisition we are in a fantastic position to enhance further the service for our customers”, says Stuart Boon, Managing Director Cary Group UK.

Western AG Limited is a well-established provider of windscreen fitting services across Northern Ireland, trading as National Windscreens, and is positioned as a trusted provider to both UK wide and local Northern Ireland customers. The company was established 23 years ago and is run by its owners Frazer Follis and Barry Loughran. Barry will remain connected to Western AG via a multi-year supply agreement with his Distribution company, ESG. Frazer, Finance Director, and Peter McGeown, General Manager, will remain with Western AG and become a part of the Cary Group UK organisation going forward.

The UK is Cary Group’s second largest market. Cary Group's acquisition strategy focuses on platform acquisitions to enter new geographic markets, add-on acquisitions to strengthen its presence in existing markets, and smaller acquisitions to improve its footprint and achieve additional scale on a local market. Over the past four years, Cary Group has made several key platform and add on acquisitions, which have not only increased revenue but also established Cary Group in new markets, contributing to the consolidation of the highly fragmented European Vehicle Glass Repair and Replacement market.
