Cary Group’s first projects of the Internal Carbon Pricing initiatives successfully implemented
Cary Group, a European leader in vehicle glass repair and replacement, is continuing its decarbonization actions with the implementation of the Internal Carbon Pricing (ICP) initiatives. The ICP initiative was launched internally in 2024 to speed up the journey of reducing carbon emissions to reach the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) targets. During 2025, projects funded by the ICP have been successfully implemented.
Introduced in 2024, the ICP initiative requires each Cary Group company to pay a fee based on its greenhouse gas emissions. The collected fees, converted centrally to a fund, are allocated into high-impact sustainability projects across Cary Group. This approach ensures that resources are directed toward initiatives with the greatest potential for carbon reduction, while also fostering accountability.
Projects that have been funded by the ICP include:
- Solar panel installations in Sweden, both at Ryds Bilglas and Svenska Bussglas premises as well as in ExpressGlass, Portugal.
- DC fast chargers in National Windscreens, the UK, to support the transition to electric vehicle fleets.
- Advanced repair equipment in Ryds Bilglas, Sweden, in National Windscreens, UK, to reduce material waste and increase the repair ratea.
- LED lighting upgrades in National Windscreens, UK, to reduce energy use.
- New spray paint tool in Sweden and Denmark (Collision business) that significantly reduce paint consumption.
In 2025 Cary Group decided to reallocate from climate compensation to Internal Carbon Pricing (ICP) to accelerate the emission reduction. The initiative strengthens Cary Group’s ability to meet its SBTi targets and has received strong support from customers and stakeholders.
“We are extremely pleased with the outcome of the Internal Carbon Pricing initiative. It is inspiring to see how the different businesses in Cary Group have used funding for projects that have a direct impact on reducing emissions”, says Helene Gustafsson, Director Corporate Communication at Cary Group.
